Water Quality and Sources

Longs Peak Water District is proud of the high quality water that we provide daily to our customers. Most of our water is treated at the Carter Lake Filter Plant located just below the south dam of Carter Lake, where most of our water is stored. That treatment plant is owned jointly by the Little Thompson Water District and the Central Weld County Water District. They treat our water from Carter Lake and deliver it back to us.

Additionally, we own a small treatment plant located just south of Terry Lake off Vermillion Road. We operate this plant during peak-use periods in the summer months. Our water treatment plant operations staff is educated, trained and motivated to operate our water treatment plant to optimize the plant performance for water quality.

Our distribution system is operated by our operations and maintenance staff. They are trained and certified by the State of Colorado to operate and maintain the distribution system, assuring the highest possible quality water reaches your tap.
